Barbara Camilla Tucholski lives and works in northern Germany, Italy and Vienna. Plants play a major role in Tucholski’s work. The dandelion, both as a painting and in her drawings, has been a constant presence since the very beginning of her artistic career. In 2020, she produced a series of drawings of individual grasses. In 2026, she began a new series of drawings in Italy, which we are presenting to the public for the first time. These are portraits of bay leaves in various states: ‘upright, fallen, wilted’. She has devoted her full attention to each individual bay leaf, immersing herself in its scent and its unique shape and structure: leaf by leaf.
